I ll admit to being a bit skeptical when I saw the name of the band and the project s title, although it did have the subtitle of Fine Bluegrass Gospel. Was I ever in for a surprise? Upon slipping the disc in my player and punching up the first cut, I was treated to some of the most wonderful and uplifting gospel music I ve heard in a while. Yes, although the group has a funny sounding name and, yes, their shows are highlighted by a number of humorous moments, female vocalist Terri and The Boys are deeply committed to a mission of spreading the Word in the songs they write and the recordings they produce. It all started back in 2001 with the band s first release, Face to Face (With Amazing Grace), which they put out on their own independent label. Amazingly, the CD made it all the way to number one on Christian Music charts and helped land them a contract with Thoroughbred Records. Their 16-year run with the label was marked by a series of impact recordings including Are You Praying Hard (Or Hardly Praying?) which made it to number one on Singing News Bluegrass Music Chart for August, 2013. The band, as well as individual members, earned a significant number of awards and honors during their stay with Thoroughbred.
