Terrific brass sound

"It is a crying shame that no one has reviewed this CD. I ordered it 2 years ago on a chance and hit the jackpot. It combines a great background Latin percussion sound(piano, congas, bongos, timbales, drums) with superb horn work. There are some unbelievable sax and trumpet solos, and the tempo varies from smooth and melodic to upbeat. The musicians are excellent and very together. If you like sax, trumpet, piano, and a Latin flavor, you will love this music. For 12 bucks, you won't find anything like it."

"I have had this cd since 1999 and I still reach for it (in fact, because i did again today, for the umpteenth time, I feel obliged to tell others about it). Simply some of the best latin. Frohman, Porcello, and Vega, lay down some masterful solos, as well as allowing all the other members of the band to express themselves and add to the excitment, sprinkling percusssion, bass & piano solos througout the cd.
Every note just perfect.
The Bronx Horns are all alumni of the super-great & legendary Tito Puentes' ensembles & orchestras. They are masters of their respective instruments. They play with a great sense of timing and expression, intermixing latin and jazz dance genres, all unified with a NYC/Bronz urban vibe, uniquely their own. There is a soulful & precise playing throughout. However, the playing is never academic or ordinary, by inspired and fiery.
Trumpet, alto & tenor sax (with flugelhorn and flute thrown in for extra color) of Frohman, Porcello, and Vega are the primary instruments hi-lighted. All members contribute to writing songs. From swinging jam pieces and dance numbers to more sultry slower pieces, every tune is a sparkling produced gem.
Enjoy!"
