CD ReviewsBeautiful, moving music 12/01/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Barbers deserve to be enshrined in every musical hall of fame in existence. Their music is passionate, inspired, and perfect. Lee Barber has a deep, beautiful voice that conveys emotions ranging from unabashed joy to heartbreak, sometimes in the same song! Especially amazing songs include "Layin' Stones" and "A Picture of Evelyn," both of which blow me away, but my favorite is "Mile Marker" - one of the best songs ever recorded, IMHO. I would recommend this album to everyone I know." This is great music 03/20/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I love this album. There's just enough grit to make it realistic (it's never sappy!) and the lyrics are incredible! The band itself is unusual - how many bands have harp as one of the main instruments??? Lee Barber's voice is rough and sort of folksy, while Elaine Barber's voice is sweet, but real. No synths and fancy studios and remixes for them! This is only their second album and, well, if they record more, amazon will have to add a 6-star rating! Amazing stuff. The Barbers are unknowns, but their music is superb. "Hold On" is one of my favorite songs, ever. "Suburbs" is also a great song. And "Mile Marker" - well, words cannot describe this song. You *have* to hear it. I can't wait for The Barbers' next CD!"
