First DVD Release of the Video's...Almost Perfect...a Reluct

"The only thing that made me hesitate in giving this fantastic set 5 stars is the absence of two videos: the official "Rock Lobster" video produced in studio in 1979 to promote the first B-52's album, and what I gather to be an official "Private Idaho" video. Instead we have a good-looking, but not-that-great-sounding live filming of a "Rock Lobster" performance, plus no visual representation at all for "Private Idaho". The missing "Rock Lobster" video is my favorite of the B-52's, featuring some New Wave costumes, plenty of smoke and bubbles, flashing green lights, Fred in a pith helmet, all on an interesting set...and it sounds perfect! The missing "Private Idaho" video that I assume was "official" shows the group performing before a yellow plaid background and is, as is the case with it's predecessor, a visual as well as aural showcase for pure vintage late 70's/early 80's New Wave B-52's.
That said, the video's in this set are great to experience, and seeing the songs performed makes for just as much fun as listening. Even the live "Cosmic Thing" performance sounds, as well as looks, totally awesome. And yes, the DVD plays perfectly on Region 1 players!
The CD is a self-explanatory treasure of instantly classic and eternally lovable mega-fun music. You'll notice a few differences in the track listing on this Australian release, but the essentials are still here. How cool it is that the Aussie's decided to give us the group's rollicking version of "Meet the Flintstones"!
I don't anticipate this CD ever leaving my car...and the DVD will always remain in close proximity to my TV. I still want the other video's one day, but there's no denying this B-52's set is a super collection of extremely fun eye and ear candy! Wild, Crazy, and Cosmic Stuff!
