"I'm so tired of reading nasty reviews on every Autumns album produced since In the Russet Gold of This Vain Hour. The band is evolving. Good bands do that.
Fake Noise From a Box of Toys is an excellent album. No, it is not In the Russet Gold of This Vain Hour. Nor should it be. It is classic Autumns with that evolution thrown in; a little different and new but still the same beautiful music that all true Autumns fans fell in love with when they first heard the band.
They are not "brit-pop" or "alt". Matthew Kelly is not trying to put on a fake brit accent and just because Simon Raymonde produced In the Russet Gold of This Vain Hour does not mean they are trying to mimic Cocteau Twins. They are an American shoegaze band; a brilliant band. Do yourself a favor and buy Fake Noise From a Box of Toys. As soon as the first track punches you in the heart like Cupid's arrow, you won't regret it."
