Amazon.comHarking back to the days when men were men, women were women, and the term "designated hitter" had never crossed anyone's lips, this collection spotlights the best work of Terry Cashman. The singer was a coffeehouse folkie who discovered his true calling when he wrote the title track to this collection as an homage to Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Duke Snider--the center fielders for New York's three teams during the 1950s. This collection extrapolates the same song into several regional variations, including one for "Indians and Tigers" and one for "Brewers, Royals, A's." That can wear thin after a while, but Cashman's other songs--chiefly "Biff Barnes" and "Rhubarb"--are diverting enough to make amends. --David Sprague
