Combine a bit of Taking Back Sunday (Fred Mascherino), a pinch of Coheed and Cambria (Josh Eppard) and a dash of Hot Rod Circuit (Andy Jackson) and what do you get? TERRIBLE THINGS, the new Universal Motown all-star rock group that has already garnered over 1 million plays on MySpace...and that's just off a demo! As out of the proverbial ashes of their former groups, the TERRIBLE THINGS debut rises from the conceptual theme born near Fred's hometown of Coatesville, PA where a rash of arson fires terrorized the town, making an impression that surprisingly affects him to this day. "I was just struck by the helplessness," says Fred. "Growing up there I remember the decay, but this was such a mindless thing, symptomatic maybe, of pure hopelessness." Ironically, or perhaps serendipitously, the TERRIBLE THINGS debut album was recorded in fellow past-due steel-town Birmingham, AL with producer Jason Elgin. "To record down there meant no distractions," says Fred. "We were totally engaged in the music and (able to) get into a different head space."
