Basically A Repackaged Ultimate Ted Nugent Collection + Bonu

"For those that already own "The Ultimate Ted Nugent" collection two disc set you'll really have no need for this, that is unless you want the extra third bonus disc which includes six tracks under forty minutes in time length. Nonetheless, this is an excellent collection of Ted Nugent's music spanning from his late sixties tenure with The Amboy Dukes thru the entire seventies and up to 1980. Some of my favorites are "Stranglehold", "Stormtroopin'", "Just What The Doctor Ordered","Free-For-All", "Dog Eat Dog", "Street Rats", "Cat Scratch Fever", "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang", "Live It Up", "Paralyzed", "Hibernation" and "Journey To The Center Of The Mind" (Ted With The Amboy Dukes). Thankfully, Sony also added six "live" tracks from the albums "Double Live Gonzo", "Intensities In Ten Cities" and one from "Out Of Control". Sadly there are no liner notes just track listings of the songs. The "Econo-Friendly Packageing" that houses the three discs is not designed very well and you have to be extremely carefull when removing the cd's as it's easy to scuff them in the process. Any die hard classic rock music fan should have this 3-cd collection, but the casual fan may want to stick with the remastered single disc "Great Gonzos! The Best Of Ted Nugent" instead."

Anti-Substance, Pro-Law-Enforcement Hard Rocker Finally Gets

"With THE ESSENTIAL 3.0 TED NUGENT (ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING), pro-law-enforcement guitar hero Ted Nugent has finally gotten the comprehensive anthology of his 70s/early 80s heyday that his career deserves. This triple-disc set features seven cuts from his self-titled debut, six apiece from FREE-FOR-ALL and CAT SCRATCH FEVER, and the important songs from WEEKEND WARRIORS, STATE OF SHOCK, and SCREAM DREAM, as well as some live material from DOUBLE LIVE GONZO! and INTENSITIES IN TEN CITIES and the original version of his Amboy Dukes hit, "Journey To The Center Of The Mind." Of course, it doesn't cross-license anything from his years with Atlantic, Spitfire, and Eagle, the former of which allowed their Nugent material to appear on the box set OUT OF CONTROL, but the Epic years from 1975-1981 were the peak of his career musically and commercially so the later material, including his work with Damn Yankees, isn't missed. In fact, this collection plays better without the later stuff, since this allows more songs to be included from his first three albums and DOUBLE LIVE GONZO! Even though this anthology repackages music that most Nugent fans probably already have, the truth is if you've ever read the plot line of the based-on-fact TV movie WHY ME?, in which the lead character's face is virtually destroyed in a car wreck caused by a drunk driver, I'm sure you'll agree that it's more morally right to give your money to the teetotal Nugent than to a drunkard like Ozzy Osbourne. Overall, this anthology, along with Terrible Ted's first three solo albums and DOUBLE LIVE GONZO!, proves that you don't need drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and/or caffeine to make great rock & roll."

"I've often felt that Ted's ego has gotten the better of him at times. It always seemed to me that if Uncle Ted would have done whatever it took to keep Derek StHolmes in the band , on lead vocals , his music would have been much better. Reguardless of that opinion of mine that no one wants to hear , Ted has done some outstanding work in his career and it definetly shows in this compilation. Sweaty Teddy knows how to rock and it is obvious why so many other rock guitarists would love to play as well as him."
