A little bit of T4F in the night

"The price is quite steep for two remix tracks and a track already on the album, but those infatuated with Everybody Loves a Happy Ending - as I am - might want to indulge anyway. To rationalize, I tell myself these guys deserve a surcharge for pulling off such a stunning comeback. Who would've thought there was anything left to copy from the Beatles?
The Call Me Mellow remix is in obligatory club style, appropriately perseverating on the phrase "slip and slide" as it lays out the clever lyrics. Not my cup of tea, but competent. If you like this sort of thing, there's more on Closest Thing To Heaven, another EP from the album.
The first track is the gem. From Steve Fitzmaurice, whose long list of credits include the Pet Shop Boys and U2, it distills Happy Ending from the album, while retaining the charming McCartney-esque bits: dancehall stomp, word salad rhymes. Even the psychedelic whimsey at beginning and middle is tastefully downsized. If you have less than 3 minutes to spare, it's a perfect way to load the whole album into your head."
