CD ReviewsObey more than interpret Raymond A. Dergenski | Camden, ME USA | 01/28/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "You ask yourself if you need still another recording of a warhorse of the repertoire. With this recording, yes you do. It's not as much a new interpretation as it is an obeyance of what Tchaikovsky wrote. I could never be without the Mravinsky/Leningrad, Svetlanov/USSR Symphony or even Solti/Chicago, but this disc proudly sits beside all of them. The SACD sounds a bit bass shy compared to Gatti's 5th, but it is thrilling and without gimick anyway. The CD version seems nicely balanced. YES, you need Gatti's 4th, 5th, and 6th Tchaikovsky Symphonies. My only hopes is that he and these same forces record the first 3 and the Manfred."
