The Swan Lake recording for ballet fans

"If you are a lover of ballet and want a recording of Swan Lake that doesn't disconcertingly put the Black Swan pas de deux right smack in the middle of Act I, then this the recording for you.

The original Tchaikovsky score for the ballet had the "Black Swan" pas in the first act, but the Petipa-based production that we all know today, moved it to the third act. Unfortunately, many of the recordings available today are true to Tchaikovsky's original score, not a happy outcome for those of us who have seen the ballet. This CD is the later version, as the ballet is performed today. So much better if you visualize the dance as you listen."
