The anthology The Seasons, Op. 37b was commissioned by the Novelist, a St. Petersburg music magazine. Tchaikovsky's admiration for the music of Robert Schumann is nowhere more explicit than in the Children's Album, Op. 39, clearly modeled on Schumann's piano suite Kinderszenen, and in fact dedicated "Ã la Schumann" on the title page of the score. Highly talented pianist Arkady Sevidov belongs to the middle generation of Russian virtuosos and displays a large repertoire and enormous ability. He is a passionate interpreter of chamber music of all kinds, a keen accompanist for singers, and an enthusiastic teacher who is highly admired by his students. Sevidov has been giving concerts abroad for several years. Concert tours lead him to all the great music centers in Eastern and Western Europe, Japan, the US, Cuba, and India.« less
