Priceless!

"As of late I get a little more than a little "burned out" on the same type of Rock, Alternative, etc etc. So much, in fact, that some time ago I decided to look elsewhere, on other type of music that trascends the conventional guitars, drums and bass. Seems the all the notes have been played over and over with very few and rare exceptions. I found Taraf de Haidouks thanks to my tireless effort to expand my musical horizons. I bought two albums by them at the same time and this one, "MASKARADA" I liked more than the other. Being that is a 2007 release I could not help myself, for I like to hear the latest in general. This album did not dissapoint in the least bit, I treasure violins, accordions and the kind of instrumentation that it really requires talent to master and play well. These group is amazing in that even though they do not sing in english their music and voices are so appealing that it stops mattering in the end. Over the last year alone I have bought several highly praised CD's only to discover that the mayority became a let down. Please do not get me wrong, there are hot acts: Grinderman, Jens Lekman, Dinosaur Jr., Eels, etc, etc, too many to mention, really, that keep my soul alive and well, but these guys (Taraf de Haidouks) are a league onto themselves. Beautiful melodies, up tempo, versatile and in the end, they have become like a respite from all that is wrong in popular music. A welcome change of pace and practically a revelation worth admiring and enjoying. These group can play! On that merit alone they deserve 5 Stars and that is exactly what they got from me. Money well spent, that is for sure!"
