"Tankwart is the alter-ego of beer-loving German thrashers Tankard. In Tankwart, the guys give a thrash metal spin on 80's era German pop staples, which definitely makes for a surreal listening experience!



2008's Himbeergeist zum Fruhstuck is the band's second effort, and it's as fun as it is weird. I have no familiarity with the original songs and can't speak German so I have no idea what the heck they're singing, but this album totally cracks me up. It's got thrash riffs on top of polka melodies that are freakishly upbeat and make you want to hoist your beer and sing along (if only you knew the words). It also bears a vague resemblance to Irish punk rockers Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.



Tankwart is absolutely not to be taken seriously, and I'd strongly caution you not to attempt listening to this album sober.
