"After being buried in a heap of discs that didn't make a good first impression I have tried listening to this disc again recently to see if it is I-Pod worthy. The bottom line is only a few of the songs are outstanding. I'm not sure why either because the songs are pleasant enough but they just don't grab you. The percussion and horns add a nice touch to compliment her voice but someting is missing; the problem is I'm not sure what. Maybe it is the melancholoy nature of the songs don't fit with her high end voice that contrasts with the dark deep background vocals? It is just a peculiar disc, beautiful in it's own way but not very accessible. This album requires patience and if you're like me you'll be hitting the fast forward button. Songs that make the I-Pod include "Samba Malato" which is a typical song that reflects the African heritage of some in Peru,"La Bruja" a traditional song that is uptempo and has catchy hooks punctuated by jazz piano and accordian,"Presos del Miedo" has Tania in a lower octave at times backed by nice percussion, "El Arullo" is a tasty salsa number with ethnic background voices chanting throughout and "Anda Mareado" is a soft yet rhythmic song that will have you swaying. I like some of Tania Libertad's other works, but in the end, this is a disc that has too many lapses and probably not for everyone."
Exceptional interpretation from a Peruvian Diva!

"WOW, this woman ceases to amaze me. She interprets just about everything, from Rancheras, boleros, balads, trovas and classical numbers (similar to Diva, Rocio Jurado). This album contains african peruvian songs....superbly done! She owns everything she sings. One has to appreciate such a divine songstress!"
