"That's right, people. Everything that you've heard about Toni Braxton's baby sister's debut CD is exactly on the money: it's EXCELLENT! As much as I love Toni, I MUST say that her baby sister Tamar has got it going on, and it is absolutely CRIMINAL that DreamWorks Records didn't properly promote this fine lady's piece of work. With a couple of credible producers such as Jermaine Dupri and Missy Elliot lending their talents, the CD can't help but be good. Tamar has a dynamic set of pipes, with a wider range than her more famous sister's. Yes, she can hit the highs and pulls them off without much effort. She may lack Toni's huskiness, but I dare say that she can more than hold her own. This lady can sing, y'all. Tamar's disc dropped more than a month before Toni's, and I've compared the two. The verdict? I have to say Tamar's is the better of them. Forgive me, Toni...I still love you deeply! But, Tamar...YOU GO, GIRL! GOOD PEOPLE, GET THIS CD! JUDGE FOR YOURSELF, AND RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO LOVES GOOD MUSIC AND AN ARTIST WITH TALENT!"

"Tamars album is and was one of the most slept on albums in the past ten years, Tim&Bob have never done such good work. The funny part is Get None, is my leaste fav song and dreamworks choice for first singel...whatever.My personal favorites are the ballads, Im sorry Toni fans but Toni has nothing on her lil' sister..Once Again shines both lyrically and vocally, I dont understand how this album did not achieve more commercial success. My other favorites on the album include Money cant Buy...love the high note thing. You Dont know, Cant Nobody, Im Over you...all get constant play in my radio even to this day...I wish shed get another chance to share some of her hot vocals with us.....the music industry is garbage"

"by not getting this wonderful CD! From the moment that I saw the video for "Get none" I was eagerly awaiting this young Diva's debut. I believe that Dreamworks has really dropped the ball in marketing this album. It took forever for this CD to be put out in the U.S, so long that many people that saw the video didn't even bother to try and find the album once it was released! I searched and searched for this album, and imagine my surprise when my Sweet husband surprised me with it, after having found it for $7.99 at a well known department store. From the moment Tamar was put in our CD player until this very day, she has remained there, that is when she's not spinning in our Car's cd player. I believe that "Money can't buy you love" is a true hit, it's got a classic R&B vibe, big production, wonderful music, the whole package. I also love the song "Words" it has such a true message, it captures that feeling that one has when they're in love but just can't find the "words" to say it. My husband's personal favorite is "Can't nobody" Which is one of the sexiest songs that I've heard in a long time. This album has something for everyone, so don't get left at the dock, get on the boat and buy this CD."

"Dreamworks records has released probably the hottest talent that will be around for a long time. Featured with a unique name, but a familiar last name, new and upcoming diva tamar (TAY-mar) braxton, the 21 year old younger sister of reigning pop icon toni has released her self titled debut album, and in my eyes, it is going to be a great success. Not many artists that are not already discovered have a voice this powerful, and I don't think that anybody will in the near future.Her debut album is nothing shy of a classic. Featuring the hot singles, that have already blazed urban radio stations "get none" featuring atlanta based record producer jermaine dupri, and the newest female rapper in the game the jay-z found amil. The track is a hip hop kind of track, one that makes her voice sound great. Now for the a ballad, the traditional braxton ballads. Tamar, may sound a bit like toni, but she shows a style of her own by laying down her smooth voice over a nice mellow beat on the untouchable "if you don't wanna love me". Why slow down there? Well...........she doesn't.The rest of the album can already match the singles, including the blazing ballad "miss your kiss". Probably the best track on the album. Other hot tracks include the up beat "your room", the beautiful "once again", and who could forget the sexy "money can't buy you love". Tamar can't be touched on songs like these, and the rest of the tracks as well. She is easily the hottest talent to come out of the dreamworks recod lable this year.But when you have hot tracks, why don't all of them make the album? This is a good question for her ballad with Sam Salter entitled "call me" didn't make the cut, as didn't "let him go" a amazing song with a guest appearance from female rapper Sole'. Where did these tracks go? I hope that they didn't hit the cutting room floor, and that they will appear on the next album, because to cut an album with hot tracks, and then not allow some of the tracks to appear, is pointless. Shame on the producer for cutting them.Pick up the album though because I think that anyone that gives young tamar a chance will indeed like what they hear, because for all the people that I know with this record, nobody can even say a bad thing about it, I think that toni should share her "secrets", and one of her most amazing secrets would have to be her lil sis."

"What's sad about r&b singers like Tamar is that in the era of 1997 - 2000, there were a lot of debut cds put out by new songbirds but rarely were they given a 2nd chance to prove that they could sustain a career in the music biz. It's a shame because Tamar has a voice as beautiful as big sis, Toni and strong material on a debut disc that just didn't get a lot of support. I can't recall hearing one of her singles on the radio stations in my area which isn't surprising given the garbage that's played constantly on radio and the promising artists who are ignored by same.
Tamar's vocal ability shines on the ballads but I also like the 1st track, GET NONE a lot. It's a fun song with catchy lyrics and music production. Other standout tracks to me are: YOUR ROOM, MONEY CAN'T BUY LOVE, I'M OVER YOU, ONCE AGAIN, WORDS, TONIGHT & THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.
I, like a lot of other reviewers hope that Tamar gets another chance to record a solo album because it's a shame that a vocalist of her caliber is shut out while lesser talents produce multiple mediocre albums. If you're curious as I was about how "Toni Braxton's lil sis" would sound on her own, give this disc a try."
