CD ReviewsA Bluegrass Take on Baseball? 06/12/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "The CMH label is known for its bluegrass artists, a form of music I truly love. So I ordered this album hoping for to score a double with bluegrass and baseball. That's not what this album is about. Rather it's a wide variety of baseball songs in country, r&b, calypso, Dixieland and other formats performed by 10 different artists. Some of the songs are old standbys, but I particularly enjoyed some of the new material. Songs I never heard before like "Hero or Bum" (with dobro) and "I Wanna Be A Baseball Star" (a Satchmo imitation complete with trumpet).Someone said they don't write songs about golf or tennis, but baseball inspires a never-ending well of creativity. This album has some of the latest and some of the best."
