"Now here's some music that really needed a re-release. These two albums, released in successive years and stylistically similar, are a good fit together. The instrumentation and acoustics on both albums are similar, and there are delightful contributions by the Pointer Sisters on both. And both albums, each in its own way, have a similar feel and pace to them. The music exudes warmth, passion, and especially a certain comfort level, a confidence and authority that comes with an artist who is WAY into what it is that he's doing, and WAY good at it--it's "kinda stately-goin'", as Taj himself might say.
These two albums are the kind of musical collections that wear well, that are good to hang out with; the kind of music you can settle in with and never want to leave. To be able to have both of them together, (recycled again), is "oh so good & blue"!"

"What more could you ask for!? 2 deleted Taj albums on the one cd!! "Recycling the Blues" had been released on cd, but long since deleted and I don't think "Oooh So Good N'Blues" has ever been released on cd. If you are a Taj fan, buy it! This compilation of music is Taj at his best. For the list price, you would have to be crazy not to buy it; I paid 3 times as much just for the "Recycling the Blues" cd years ago.

"I had heard this album (Oh so good n blues) on vinyl at a friends place and always loved it...but could never find it.......kept looking and here it is! There are several tracks on this album that have people saying, 'is that taj mahal?' i didnt know he played bass? i didnt know he played piano? I love the linear notes with this re-release, and taj's quote on page one...he said something like 'i am not making music for the industry, i am making the music i have to make' and i just love it. If you think you have put Taj Mahal in a nice little box/genre, perhaps throw your ideas away and listen to oooooooooh soooooooo good."

"FOLLOWING REVIEW BY REX HADLEY: LONG-TIME TAJ MAHAL FAN I have been waiting for my favorite Taj album, OOOH SO GOOD 'N' BLUES, to be released on CD and now that it has, a small, dark spot has been removed from my soul. Listening to it took me back to 1973 to the time when the only other music I listened to was Leonard Cohen. If you have not heard the Pointer Sisters perform with Taj on this recording, you do yourself a disservice. It is the simplicity of zen in music form."
