CD Reviews

Majestic work

"If you like the New World Symphony, if you like impressive guitar work.....heck, if you like music, check this album out. Hard-to-believe arrangements by this amazing guitarist that does the entire symphony - or at least a fantastic impression - on one classical guitar."
Full energy in action!

"Since I listened this notable performer of the instrument in the early nineties with that unforgettable version of his own arrangement of Mussorgsky's Pictures at exhibition, I wondered why he is not more widely known around the world.

Consider the enormous difficulties along the road with these notable orchestral pieces. The New world Symphony and the Firebird Suite enrich the repertoire for guitar and carve in relief once more that old expression of Hector Berlioz: "The guitar is an orchestra in miniature""
Oh, the Cruel Irony!

"Simply unfair: That so many mediocre artists have gained fame on the basis of a great technique alone, while this genuine musician (incidentally possessing a technique literally unequaled by any guitar player in recorded history) was written off by critics as a purveyor of gimmicks.

Hell, far from a gimmick, this arrangement of the Firebird may actually hold the attention better than Stravinsky's own, and the Dvorak sure isn't bad either.

Buy it used here or (an even better deal!) a new copy from arkiv music's ArkivCD program. You won't regret it."
