"The review written by nmernst is just plain embarrassing. Please don't let it dissuade you from considering this historic recording. If nmernst would promise never to write another review for a Classical CD, I would be glad to perform the service of purchasing this CD from him/her."

"This is a masterful rendition of Beethoven's Coriolan, Overture in C Minor Opus 62. Herr Wilhelm Furtwaengler (1886-1954) conducted this exciting performance in 1943. During his lifetime, he was criticised by some for subjective interpretations, even so, it suits my tastes well. I am utterly amazed and grateful that I have the opportunity to listen to it at all. The overture moves through the first portion (4') with the power of a Panzer Division. When the drums are struck, it is as the release of ordinance. Displaying his characteristic talent for changes in tempo, Herr Furtwaengler brings the orchestra to a pause at 6 minutes. The last minute is extremely tense for me when the overture closes as a huge vessel disappearing in the fog. If you are interested in one of the most important conductors of the twentieth century, or in a powerhouse perfomance, this CD will be interesting to you."
