"Emanuel Krivine's Mozart albums stand comparison with the very finest. This CD features very stylish playing. No. 32 is a little on the slow side, but it is warm and has a lot of heart. No. 33 is a patrician reading, offering beautifully delineated textures and exquisite balances. There are great recordings of this symphony by the Collegium Aureum and by Sir Colin Davis and the English Chamber Orchestra, but Krivine has a lot to say in his own way, and the momenutm of the symphony never is slighted. The Jupiter is a reading with pinpoint tempos and great power. The last movement has great cumulative force, with every theme splendidly laid out. Krivine uses the full orchestra in this symphony, but his control of the orchestra is so phenomenal that the result never seems overpowering or coarse. The sound engineering throughout the CD is excellent, full toned but not overly resonant. Any Mozartean would be happy to add this CD to his collection."
