"This CD contains four tracks (1,3,5,7) by german techno dub artist Porter Ricks and four tracks (2,4,6,8) by British dub terrorists Techno Animal.Porter Ricks'work here presents a new sound, radically different from PR's previous releases (Biokinetiks and Porter Ricks). The first three PR tracks on this CD include a basic analog synth drone modulated in all possible ways and almost with no audible percussion, which creates a very eerie and dark amosphere. The vibe is different from their previous works, which were more like dreamy soundscapes. Maybe this new aggressive point of view is the result of this collaboration with TA. PR track 7 has a more techno approach, thus mantaining this hard style. I think PR have finally arrived to a personal and original sound, far from Basic Channel and Richie Hawtin's influence. Maybe it's a consequence of being in a new label.Techno animal have included more feedback and reverb than than what's usual to them, possibly to match PR's dense dub. The four tracks on this CD are very much alike. Although PR's new sound is what outstands in this release, I think TA's track 6 is the best song of them all. I think Justin Broadrick shoud consider abandoning his crude and revolting style to direct his sound towards a more explorative field. This CD proves what he is really capable of. Anyway, he still mantains his typical song structures and guitar sound.Symbiotics is the best CD I bought since Jan 2000 (including all from industrial to intelligent techno), and remains a promise of two future great releases from this artists. I'm impatient."
