I always suspected that Sylvain Sylvain was more worthy than he was given credit for. Of course, it's tough to work in the shadow of Thunders and Johansen. But when I first bought the vinyl version as a kid, my high expectations were met. Sylvain did a great job writing 50's and 60's era songs (something Johansen was only able to achieve with covers) without sounding dated. I'm So Sorry, 14th Street Beat, Deeper, Teenage News, What's That Got To Do With Rock & Roll - all winners. I'm buying this again." |
