Product DescriptionVol. 2: Benny...King of Swing! is the next release in the newly recorded jazz/swing tribute series from Swing Masters. This edition represents the Benny Goodman danceable collection of music originally recorded by this jazz innovator. Goodman, who died in 1986, is still revered throughout the world as the most technically proficient jazz clarinetists of all times and 2009 marks the centennial of his birth. His music ushered in the Swing era, he pioneered integrated bands in the 1930 s and his band was the first jazz band to play Carnegie Hall! Benny, who was dubbed King of Swing by one of his former band members Gene Krupa, played with such illustrious artists as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald.
As with many of the sidemen of yesteryear, musicians worked hard to be hired to play with all the great bands! In keeping with that theme, this tribute CD was recorded by some of the musicians who actually performed with Benny Goodman years ago. Those musicians are Ken Peplowski clarinet, Bob Millikan Trumpet, Jack Stuckey alto sax, Chuck Wilson alto sax, Derek Smith piano and Frank Vignola guitar. Now Swing Masters brings the music of Benny Goodman to life on Vol. 2: Benny...King of Swing!
