Synopsis

Product Description
Propelled by keen pop-punk sensibilities, spaced out-genius songwriting and fueled by a roaring wall of guitar, Sweet Water's Clear The Tarmac delivers on the promises of rock and roll. The Seattle quartet became known internationally for their loud, combustible rock and sweet, catchy melodies and Clear The Tarmac, the band's first record in nine years, and fourth full-length overall, is without a doubt their strongest record to date. A collection of ten new songs, Sweet Water proves they haven't slowed down or lost their ability to play loud and hard, all while showcasing musical growth and diversity, creating a record that is as much guitar-rock as it is psychedelic, Brit-pop, and power-pop influenced: think big hooks, charged melodies, plenty of rock momentum, and a wiser, more emotional lyrical bite. The rock on Sweet Water's Clear the Tarmac is one-hundred percent bulletproof. Imagine what it would sound like if Paul McCartney met Jimmy Page at Ron Wood's house with the Misfits playing in the background - and then they all decided to write some songs together.

Fitting Return To The Top!
Rope a Dope Reader | Seattle | 01/28/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"One of the very best of the Seattle bands returns with an excellent album, flush with cool rhythms and steady rock aim. This album is well layered from top to bottom, reminiscent of their original release and Superfriends follow-up. Each song has a purpose and place - there's a journey here, enjoy.

Can't say enough about Sweetwater's resurgence. In some ways, I'm glad they never hit the big time with other notable Seattle bands if only to keep them local, grounded, and true to what they love. They've changed, if slightly, but for the better. Musical maturity at its best."
