"excellent and catchy electronic pop with dark lyrics. listen to "pretending" or "your world is eternally complete" and try not to bounce around or tap your feet. i've been recommending it to anybody who stops to listen to me."
One of the best modern pop bands, period

"Sweet Trip has always been a special, unbelievably unknown band. When their first album (that I know of) Halica came out as part of Darla Records' Bliss Out Series about 10 years ago it seemed like the band was destined for greatness- their sound was not only beautiful and organic but combined the best elements of shoegaze and dance music somehow coming out the other end as completely earnest and unclassifiable.
After another thrilling album in 2003 and a sting of compilation appearances it was hard to know what to expect. So, when this album came out with minimal promotion in September no one bothered to mention that Sweet Trip has taken their own cues and been working on making beautifully written, structured, and produced pop music that is complex, endlessly stream-of-conciousness, and with a renewed intent and vision. For all the songs with boy-girl vocals about escape and love the music always fits and never becomes a case of just-another-pop-band. This is one of those albums that couldn't have been made in less than six years and there is a huge group of people that could love this music if it just made it to the radio. Darkness is a bittersweet Joy Division meets Stereolab song, one of the album's standouts, that is both enthralling in its epic turns and heartbreaking in its repeated chants of "I will never fall in love again".
I couldn't give a higher recommendation and know I will be listening to this album for years to come."
