Synopsis

Album Description
Live performances from 1958 to 1986, recorded in Moscow, Takasaki, and Tours. Sviatoslav Richter (1915-1997) is numbered among the finest pianists of the 20th century. He exhibited all the best traits of the Russian school of playing: dynamism, lyrical expressiveness, and a wide range of tonal color. Born in Russia in 1953, and studying at the Moscow Conservatory, Yuri Bashmet soon became recognized as Russia's greatest violist and one of the finest in the world. Pierre Fournier (1906-1986) was known in his lifetime as "the aristocrat of cellists," because of his lyrical playing, and for his impeccable artistic sensitivity.
