"The awkwardly titled band, Surface of Eceyon, are modern day masters of ambient rock. They are fast building a small yet strong fan base. Their music is spiritual and ethereal, without being pretentious. Very refreshing and, at times, epic stuff. Most of the album doesn't rock very hard, instead focusing on pure ambient rock. However, a full blast of sonic stun guitar is unleashed on the final 10 minutes of the final track, which seems to be a meditation on freeing music from the grasp of greedy major labels. Well, it also ties in with the weird hippie story included in the inside cover, something about a monolithic monster named the Tusyaan who takes music from the world and who must be defeated by dragons (or something).
For fans of Flying Saucer Attack, Minmae, Mogwai, and Godspeed you Black Emperor. I'm so glad this band exists. One more thing, the whole album was done LIVE in the studio without any overdubs or dumb studio trickery. This band is awesome like Phish - they have loads of talent and don't need studio tricks to make them sound great. Rock on. A good album for the Winter months (Victory of Ice and Magyck)!"
