With the relatively inexpensive remasters, why bother?

"This was clearly intended to supplement the first 'Very Best of', which was heavy on the records of Supertramp during their prime - 'Crime of the Century' (1974), 'Crisis? What Crisis?' (1975), 'Even in the Quietest Moment' (1977), 'Breakfast in America' (1979), and 'Famouse Last Words' (1982) (i.e., there is only one track on each volume from outside this era). Whereas Volume 1 was full of AOR radio hits (and thus, heavy on material from 'Crime' and 'Breakfast'), this collection rounds out with fan favorites from the other three of these records. Therefore, my advice is this: if you are a casual fan, keep Volume 1 and do not both with this relativley expensive supplement. If you are more than causually interested, don't lay out $40.00 for Volumes 1 and 2 when you can basically have all five records in their original running order for a little bit more."

"The Very Best of Supertramp Volume 2 was released in most countries save the US in 1992.
This album was the second volume to Supertramp's Very Best of Supertramp.
The Very Best of Supertramp Volume 1 collection contained 15 songs which were School, Bloody Well Right, Hide in Your Shell(which did not appear on Retrospectacle), Dreamer, Rudy, Crime of the Century from 1974's Crime of the Century. Ain't Nobody But Me from 1975's Crisis? What Crisis?. Give a Little Bit and From Now On from 1977's Even in the Quietest Moments. The Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, Breakfast In America and Take The Long Way Home from 1979's Breakfast in America. It's Raining Again from 1982's Famous Last Words and Cannonball from 1985's Brother Where You Bound.
This second volume of The Very Best of Supertramp contains the tracks that were left off the first volume and were mainly album tracks and are all now on Retrospectacle(except as noted). If Everyone Was Listening(not on Retrospectacle) is the only track from 1974's Crime of the Century on Volume 2. A Soapbox Opera(not on Retrospectacle) and Lady from 1975's Crisis? What Crisis?. Even in the Quietest Moments, Downstream, Babaji(not on Retrospectacle) and the masterpiece Fool's Overture(also not on Retrospectacle) all come from 1977's Even in the Quietest Moments. Gone Hollywood, Oh Darling and Just Another Nervous Wreck(not on Retrospectacle) from 1979's Breakfast in America. My Kind of Lady, Waiting So Long(not on Retrospectacle) and Don't Leave Me Now from 1982's Famous Last Words. Lastly, Free as a Bird from the 1987 album of the same name is on this collection.
If you don't know where to start on Supertramp, this 15 song best of is a best bet but if you have the albums or Retrospectacle then don't bother."
