"This record made me want to be something more than I was...its spirited playing, passionate lyrics, and warm, punchy bass tones that ring through your rib cage make this a record you'll keep listening to year after year...styles comes and go, great records stick around - this is one of them."
A little tension, no pretention

"Delicate, youthful vocals strain to be heard above the controlled roar of guitars and bass, coming to terms with the horrors of running over a robin's egg with a lawnmower (Mower) or venting the frustration of a missing mail delivery (Package Theif). This is Superchunk. Refreshingly domestic. Yes. Rocking hooks larger than life. Yes. How can something so simple be so great? Listen for yourself. Pick up a guitar and try it yourself. Its not that simple. Superchunk just makes it seem easy, probably by leaving out the pretention, but keeping the zest of tension."
Another Indie Rocker from Superchuck

"This is vintage Superchunk, one of the best from their collection of remarkably brilliant albums. As with "Here's Where the Strings Come In," Mac, Laura & Co. positively blast through "Precision Auto," "New Low," "For Tension," and "Package Thief," while demonstrating a clever range of emotion (on tracks like "Untied" and "Swallow That") short of the quiet falsetto melodies of "Indoor Living" and "Come Pick Me Up." Hands down great album, right up there with Superchunk's masterpiece, "No Pocky for Kitty.""
My fifth of 5 favorite SUPERCHUNK albums

"And the first song, Precision Auto, could be my favorite song of theirs. The driving guitar, a general signature sound of theirs, weaves and travels beautifully with that strong guitar sound all through this song. Mower is also great here. Four of the first seven songs here are well written and accomplish their typical full indie rock sound. As with all their albums, I find this one mostly goes highest quality song to least quality one. When I saw them live in 92 I fell in love with the gal bassist, her presence on stage and full energy. Just like I did with the bassist of the GO GO's in 1980. Magic nights. It's funny, the last 5 songs on the album, like several of their albums, leave me sorta flat. Still, it's worth getting the album for the great songs that are on it. Those other 4 fave albums are: indicental music, foolish, no pocky for kitty and indoor living.
