The Superchunk single to buy if you've only got the albums

(4 out of 5 stars)
"Superchunk have released a number of acoustic versions of their songs, and every one is a gem. The reason being that, rather than simply perform the songs exactly the same as originally recorded but unplugged, they play around a little with tempos, arrangements, and percussion. This ep gives you three examples of their technique. I wouldn't necessarily buy this as an intro to Superchunk, since it doesn't really give you an accurate picture of their sound (I would recommend "Here's Where the Strings Come In" for that purpose or perhaps "The Laughter Guns" if you are dead set on only spending enough for an ep). However, for someone familiar with the band and the songs on this disc, it's a must have. I would have given it 5 stars, except for the fact that I'm fairly indifferent to "Driveway to Driveway" as a song.Along the same lines, check out the "Hyper Enough" single for the classic title track and an amazing mellow acoustic version of "Detroit Has a Skyline". The third track, "Never Too Young to Smoke" - an outtake - isn't bad either."
