What a Rush!

"This album can convert the uninitiated to the status of Supafreak. You can't sit back and just listen to All About the Rock. The sound is a balance of aggressive energy, melody, and well-placed noise. From the zero-to-60-in-now opener "Fool No More" to the churning closer "Fade," Supafuzz lives up to the image of Dave Angstrom's bleached spiked do, although there's a lot more depth to the band than that. You can headbang to it, shake your nether regions, take an emotional roller coaster ride with the sonic ebb and flow -- but you can't stay still. Not possible.A declaration that speaks for much of the album's attitude, first single "I Am the King" uses multiple voices in guitar, rhythm, and vocals to blow the listener away. Clean-groove guitar and low growl vocals build to and trade off with full-bore guitar and vocal torrents, all underpinned with Chris Leathers' syncopated skinwork. Sure to be noticed is "Arguing With God," blasting away with fury befitting the title and the chorus ("When I argue with God/It's a pill that's hard to swallow/I swear a lot/Do you swear that you won't swallow me whole"). Other tracks that stick out include the relationship-gone-south of "Tonic & Cigarettes," the artful noise with a beat of "Subsonic," and the potent, driving "Blame." Relatively quieter tracks like the ballad "Confession" and the bleak "Bottomed Out" are arresting without losing touch with the wildness of the rocking tracks."
Very Original

"It's really hard to classify these guys. Suffice to say, they just play good, hard rock music. They've got some nice distorted guitars, and seem to play through some big, fuzzed-out amps. Dave Angstrom's got a real distinct voice, so you're not gonna confuse him with somebody else. This is a great album to pick up as it really does rock out."
