Great neo-traditional music! Sally w/o overproduction.

"I have never been a big Sally Nyolo fan, I found her music to be too syrupy and overproduced. This CD is a radical departure from her work w/ Zap Mama and previous solo albums. The music is rough and rowdy; something I wouldn't expect from Sally Nyolo.
Okay the details. The record consists of tracks recorded by a variety of bands featuring Sally Nyolo. There are acoustic makossa numbers, some kicking bikutsi, and pure folklore. The overall sound is haunting and varies from mellow to floor shaking. I applaued Ms. Nyolo for giving a group of no names the opportunity to make heart felt music. This is not an Afropop crossover disc. THIS IS VILLAGE MUSIC! This disc won't even be a hit in Cameroon; it is too rootsy. The disc was one of my favorite releases of 2006. Give it a try."
