"Much like Xasthur, Leviathan, Draugar, Fear of Eternity, etc., Striborg is a one-man band, in this case run by someone known only as Sin Nanna. And like these bands, Striborg cranks out some of the bleakest, most densely atmospheric, and absolutely EVIL metal since the likes of Darkthrone and Burzum.
However, there's something subtly "different" to Striborg's sound. Maybe there's a certain quality to Sin Nanna's rasping, buzzing voice. Maybe he adds a certain ambience to the music - gotta love those icy synth-melodies. Maybe it was the way it was recorded. Hell, maybe it's just great black metal flavored by the fact that this is a Tasmanian black metal band (I just love saying that, heh). Whatever the case may be, Striborg is a band to be checked out by any black metal fan.

"Eerie...creepy...scary...disguisting...black....depressing. The list goes on for adjectives that describe this depressing album of black metal funeral music. As one listens to this ...masterpiece(?)-one could say this is the greatest peice of music ever made, while another could say its the absolute worst piece of crap their poor ears ever had to listen to. The thing with this album is one must hear it and be the judge themselves. Sure these reviews may help a bit but it wont help you to know if youll enjoy it unless you actually listen to it. This is something I cant compare to anything but.... maybe Death itself. Its music that makes you feel dead, like a soul wondering this place called earth in search of something...but that something is never really anything. It is surely not black metal that someone wearing a Cradle of Filth shirt will say is "their favorite album to headbang to." It is music not made to even....enjoy. Sure you can like it, I personally like this album a lot. But enjoy as in listen to and feel sense of happiness, that can not be done with Striborg's Nafaria. I would recommened this to everyone because I think everyone should hear this album at least once, but for fans of very, very very lo-fi, completely uncomprehensible vocals and a depressing, low tone evil sound throughtout you will deffinitly want to pick this album up. I give this 4 stars because the only flaw I find is it begins to sound a bit the same throughout and Im also more into black metal bands like Darkthrone, Mayhem, Bathory etc and this sounds absoultely nothing like them so Im not even quite used to this kind of sound."
