Powerhouse rock 'n' roll

"L.A.'s Streetwalkin' Cheetahs are a powerhouse rock 'n' roll band inspired by the MC5, the Stooges, the Dictators and other pre-Pistols punk bands. Leader Frank Meyer is an oft-dazzling guitarist (his tutor was Dweezil Zappa) and his vocals are positively feral; the songs are for the most part extremely cool rock tunes, highlighted by "Freak Out Man," What's Coming to Me" and "Built For Speed." The occasional use of gratuitous sexism marrs the surface of this turbocharged vehicle, but otherwise this is tight rock 'n' roll the likes of which Johnny Thunders fantasized about."
