CD Reviews

Amazing

"This album is a great mixture of Jazz, pop and fusion, topped by Brian Auger's Hammond playing and Julie Driscoll's singing.

Released for a very short time in 1969 as a double LP album and shortly disappearing from the market the year after. Now it is on CD.

I personally own all Brian Auger's albums; some are good and some are great, however between the 30+CD's, if I had to choose the 3 best releases, Streetnoise would be among them.

The other 2 CDs?

Second Wind

Voices of other times.

Streetnoise is a CLASSIC. You will hear it year after year, and your ears and soul will still be amazed

"Streetnoise by Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity is quirky, disjointed, erratic, sometimes dated, and even odd. But when it's good, wow, is it good. The Brian Auger solo organ tracks are really sharp, (Tropic Of Capricorn, Finally Found You Out, and especially Ellis Island which could go on for half an hour as far as I'm concerned.) At times Driscoll seems to be trying to sing through her voice instead of with it in her homage to Nina Simone. Still, when she's good, as is the case with Take Me To The Water and When I Was A Young Girl, she nails it to the wall. Very interesting treatments of standards like Save The Country, All Blues, and Light My Fire which Driscoll handles beautifully. If you're the type that bids on grab bags at raffles this is for you. Some clunkers, some gems. Looking In The Eye Of The World is Brian Auger doing a very nice Mose Allison impression. Good stuff."
Classic and still sounds great

"I missed out on this the first time around, but I have it now and it doesn't sound dated at all. Very crisp. Good singer and good musicians. Good songs."
