CD ReviewsWhere are the original master tape ? José do Carmo Lopes | São Paulo, SP Brazil | 06/26/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "One of the best albuns from 70's, issued at the legendary Manticore Records, this STRAY DOG second album has beautiful tracks like "Dreams and Junks" and "Worldwinds". Some diferent from the first album but very good too . But in this CD all tracks have "scratches" and other noises. I have the original LP and it is better than this CD. In the cover they wrote (in very small words): "remasterized from the vinyl". Remasterized ?!? I think this is not serious. Where are the master tape??? One advice for all : If you have the original LP in very good conditions, don't buy this CD." Esoteric Gets It Right!!! Review of the 2009 Esoteric Remast Steve A | Somewhere In Rhode Island | 11/28/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Finally this classic from 1975 has been mastered right...this new Esoteric Records (Cherry Red) version sounds great and sounds like it was done from master tapes...it really sounds clean compared to the lousy and thankfully OOP Zoom Club vinyl transfer version. I was praying this would come out again mastered nicely and Esoteric delivers the goods big time...make sure you buy the 2009 Esoteric Records version it's worth every penny if you like me love Stray Dog. As for the music it's classic hard rock with some progressive moments and some fine guitar work by Snuffy Walden...just check out the epic instrumental classic album closer "Whirlwinds" it's worth the price of the CD alone. Once again thank you Esoteric for doing this mega obscure classic the way it deserves to sound...and with the added bonus tracks and almost 80 minute running time how can you ask for more." While you were down there J. brown | charlotte,nc | 03/15/2009 (3 out of 5 stars) "i don't know where you guys got your cd.i got the zoom club rerelease and the recording isn't that bad.i personally think the first stray dog album is the best."
