A different sound

"I am not quite sure how to rate this album. Stonewall Jackson had one of the most distinct voices and sounds in country music, so I'm not sure why the change here to the so called "outlaw" movement of the early-mid '70's. Stonewall does not sound comfortable at all with this sound and you can hear it readily in his music; especially the remakes of songs in his catalog. Now, with that said, there are some real gems here, to include: "The Pint of No Return", "Alcohol of Fame", and "Listening to Johnny Paycheck". I am happy this was a short-lived stunt for Stonewall, as it just does not seem natural (to the listener or the performer). Still, all in all, if you are a real diehard fan of Stonewall Jackson, this is a must for your collection."
