STOMPIN TOM ROCKS!
Mike Bravener | Fredericton N.B. Canada | 01/15/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"One of our national treasures comes from the maritime provinces of Canada and is known as Stompin' Tom. Tom has been able to capture many great stories and put them to very singable and memorable tunes that will bring a smile to your face and set your toes a tappin'. He is one of the greatest artists, poet, and entertainer that our country has ever produced and has been honored with 2 doctorates from two different univerisities and one listen to this collection of tunes and you will discover why.On this collection you will meet "Bud the spud", dance the "gumboot clogeroo", enjoy a hockey game, join a young man who blew his money on the "Red River Jane", and see why Sudbury Ontario is the place to be on a "Sudbury saturday night". You will learn why Tom's back still aches when he hears the word "Tillsonburg", Learn about a PEI potato and his love affair with a Leamington Ontario Tomato, and how to shake your blues away. Sadly however some of Tom's other great tunes about Big Joe Muffaraw, Muk Tuk Annie, and Margo aren't on this collection but a couple of listens through and you'll want to hunt more of these canadian gems down. I love this collection and it's a great place to get an introduction to one of the greatest story tellers in the world."
Excellent introduction to a true Canadian country songwriter

"Stompin' Tom writes story songs about places all across Canada. The tunes are simple and catchy. Good car songs to sing along with."
Move Along

"OK, so this is a very good compilation by a Canadian treasure. If you like Hank Sr. or Hank III or Hank Snow, you'll like Stompin' Tom. Also, if you don't understand Canada or Canadians, he'll help with that too. The one problem with this CD is that it's missing my personal favorite, Move Along. Still, well worth buying (but only if you like dang good music)."
