"I put this on when I'm cleaning the house or when I'm working on my laptop. Walker creates, like everyone says, a minimalist soundscape that miraculously transports you from wherever you are to a nice peaceful place short of Heaven. Actually you feel as if you are in a museum by yourself surrounded by fabulous artwork. Or maybe at the side of a small lake in Paris. Whatever the case may be, wherever you find yourself, take careful notice of how your heart begins to beat along to the rhythms Walker sets."
Great individual album

"The idea for this album came from the large outdoor sculptures created by Alexander Calder. My goal was to write sound compositions which would present a stationary focus in the home listening environment. Each track offers an individual mood while still conforming to the overall theme of stability. ~ Stewart Walker"
Minimalist Classic

"File this one right next to Aphex Twin's Selected Works Vol II, as the best of the electronic, albeit non-ambient genre. "Stabiles" unfolds with a funky beat that organifies the synth groove. I'll be listening to this for a long, long time."
Music to "not listen to"

"If you are looking for "minimalist" techno to actually listen to, I'd recommend Theorem's Ion or "Consumed" by plastikman. But if you want music to not listen to, this is a nice pick. there are times when you don't want to listen to music, but you don't want dead air around you. This is the disc for just that moment- perfect wallpaper music. I had this revelation when I popped it on while doing my taxes/paperwork at home and didn't notice it till it stoped. I won't pretent to be a techno conissour, and didn't really see the artistic qualities the other reviewers did, but I enjoyed this for it's pleasant yet passive qualities. That makes this a nice, but not essential, purchase."
