Synopsis
Product Description Return to Covent Garden is another great collaboration the incomparable working duo of David Howard and Steven Mitchell. After the great success of A Covent Garden Class, they modeled the class structure of this new recording after it. You will hear music from classical ballet, opera melodies, theater favorites and original melodies. Captured on this recording are classics of Romeo and Juliet "Montegues and Capulets" and the ever-necessary Coda from Swan Lake. Advanced dancers will love this music. |
CD ReviewsReturn to Covent Garden Julie C. Kenyon | San Diego, CA. USA | 09/14/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "As a ballet teacher, I highly recommend Steven Mitchell's CD "Return to Covent Garden". It is the CD I return to time after time to uplift and motivate my students. The selections are beautifully arranged for barre and center exercises with a variety of classical favorites and modern pieces. Steven Mitchell's rare talent for presenting surprising "spins" on well-known classics is exciting and fun for students and teachers alike. It is indeed one of my favorite CD's from my favorite pianist, Steven Mitchell and director, David Howard." Lovely, just lovely ... Maggie | Reston, VA | 08/09/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Like volume one, this CD has wonderful selections for ballet class. Inspiring, danceable, motivating.
As Mr. Howard likes to do, many of the barre selections have extended music for additional port de bras, balances, etc. Unlike volume one, volume two does not repeat selections. A welcome change as far as I'm concerned. One problem: track two has a brief lapse about half way through. It's not as if the music skips, but rather pauses and then picks up where it left off. Odd. I've only used the CD once and have not heard all of the tracks." |
