"I love this CD. This music has a reedy, haunting quality that makes me think of smoke and poetry and lost loves. It's very much in the vein of John Lennon -- smart and felt at the same time. I didn't know people were performing music this good anymore. Bravo!"

"This Dream Called Life marks something of a departure from the sound, if not the spirit, of Steve Woodhams' earlier album, Lost Dog. It also chronicles an interesting musical evolution: to the gentle, introverted sounds of the first album, on This Dream Called Life, Woodhams has grafted some daring experiments in instrumentation and production, all of which results in an album that somehow walks a very fine line between sounding coherent as a whole and surprising the listener. I'm thinking, for example, of the transition between "She's Gonna Change the World" to "Written In Water" to "Ordinary Special Day"--some of my favorite songs on the album. All these musical twists and turns nicely pick up on and complement Woodhams' lyrics, which, like the instrumentation on this album, are far from monotonous or maudlin and are replete with unannoying, thought-provoking ambivalence. I would strongly recommend this album--names like Crowded House and Aimee Mann spring to mind."

"I recently purchased Steve Woodhams' latest, "This Dream Called Life," and haven't been able to keep it off my CD player. The CD is full of catchy, lyrical pop that I find irresistable. It sounds to me as if Crowded House returned for one last session to gig with Mr. Woodhams. Pick this one up. If you like clever pop songs that will stay with you long after the CD is through spinning, this is definitely one for the shopping cart."
I've been telling everyone

"I've been telling everyone I know about this CD. It's fantastic! The first song "Small Town, Big Dreams" is great, and makes me start dancing and singing everytime I hear it. His voice is really captivating and Woodhams' lyrics are powerful and mysterious. Exactly the kind of music I love, and I love the Beatles, Crowded House, old Bob Dylan, Counting Crows and Crash Test Dummies. So far I've recommended this CD to about ten people and they're all playing it a lot and totally getting into it."

"A friend recently sent me this disk, and I can't stop listening to it. It's great! The lyrics are subtle, fascinating. I teach first-year English composition at a university and might use one of the songs from this compilation as a focus for student writing. The lyrics are thought provoking. With regard to the music, Woodhams's melodies and musicianship remind me a lot of the Finn Brothers and Crowded House. Definitely a plus. But he definitely has his own slant. Based on this disk, I'm going to check out his other one, "Lost Dog.""
