After a string of country-pop hits in the '80s, Steve Wariner seemed to settle into a journeyman's rut until 1998's heart-tugging "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" (and its album, Burnin' the Roadhouse Down) delivered the big... more »gest success of his career. Not surprisingly, Wariner has chosen to go with the emotional flow on this ballad-heavy follow-up. Both the title-track single and "I'm Already Taken" (a remake of his debut recording from 1978) cross the line where sentiment becomes sap, while too much of the rest is bland at best. For variety's sake, the 15 selections include a duet with Bryan White on the cornball "Talk to Her Heart," a cover of Rod Stewart's "For the First Time," and an album-closing instrumental, "The Harry Shuffle," that showcases Wariner's nimble guitar picking. --Don McLeese« less

Best album of 1999 - a true "keeper"

(5 out of 5 stars)
"Since I am a big Steve Wariner fan I had to have this CD, and again, I am thrilled. This is Steve Wariner at his best. Great vocal arrangements - wonderful lyrics. One of those rare CD's where absolutely every song is worth listening to. I can play it for hours without getting tired of it. His guitar play is fantastic and really noticable on this CD. For everyone that loves romance - a must have CD! Put it on your Christmas wish list if you haven't bought it already. My favorite song: Tatoos of live."
Worth the album for one song

"Although a little disappointed by Steve's last album (except the angelic Holes In the Floor of Heaven), I listened to this in the store before I decided if I was to buy it. I was blown away by the gorgeous 'I'm Already Taken'. I even took the CD around to my Mum, and she was crying! The CD is worth it for that one song, but don't miss out on 'If You Don't Know By Now' and 'I'll Always Have Denver', another two poignant ballads. Although the title track is a little too much for me, overall this album is worth buying."
"Album of the Year" should-have-been

"This album was nominated for CMA album of the year and must have come in second with the votes. I'm sure this album will continue to be strong and well-loved for years to come. Come on, Steve wrote all but one song! What an accomplishment! Don't miss this one. You'll love it--I know I do."

"Two Teardrops is by far one of the greatest Steve Wariner CD's to date. Steve has always made excellent music but has always been overlooked, he finaly after 20 years is begining to recieve some of the much needed attention that he greatly deserves. If you are a fan of Steves great talent then this CD is defitnitly for you ,if your not a fan and you are just looking for some great music then this CD is for you too.It is rare that you find a CD from anyone that contains 15 songs which are all great, but with Two Teardrops you will find that plus more. This is a CD that you will never get tired of listening to,it will be a true classic. And Two Teardrops will soon become one of your favorite CD's,once you start listening you just can't stop.If you buy only one CD then this is the one that you HAVE to have.I recomend it to everyone you won't be disapointed!!"

"I bought this CD while I was in the USA, and I listen to it all the time. It is a good country CD, that I am going to enjoy for a long time. I had never heard about neither Steve Wariner or most of the other american country artists, but now I know what kind of music I need to buy!"
