"A classically trained guitarist and very diverse musician, Steve Stevens, has pulled off an excellent freshman debut record since his departure from Billy Idol. Often imitated, but never skillfully copied, this record has range from pop metal, glam, to even a hint of jazz and new age flavor! A must for guitar rock fans. Check out his other project, Jerusalem Slim, with ex-Hanoi Rocker, Michael Monroe."
Still stands up today

"I rememebr when I first got this way back when it was first released... and thought it was an excellent 1st outing. Well produced and well written, (a couple of the tunes could have even been Billy Idol material), and the singer works well also... a guy I'd been aware of since his days in a band called Warrior... I believe the album I had was called Fighting For The Earth. A previous reviewer sited the playing , writing, and in particular, the singing as bad, and while I certainly understand that music hits us all differently, the simple fact that all the other reviews are positive leads me to believe that he must have listened to another Steve Stevens releasing an entirely different Atomic Playboys, because what I've been listening to is quite good. The singer is in fact much better than Vince Niel, (not worse), as said reviewer stated, and I hear all kinds of great guitar playing on this, in various styles... all it take is just an open mind, and an even more open set of ears. In fact, all the musicians are quite good. as for the songs, as I stated before, some remind me of Billy Idol, some of Whitesnake- a little. Atomic Playboys being an all out metal onslaught, The Power Of Suggeston a bit more jazzy, and even a cover of the old glam ditty, Action. Personally, I think it's quite good and stands the truest test of all, the test of time.
Buy it, and play it loud!"

"I purchased this album in 1989 on tape in Sweden. I was an exchange student and this album was the only thing that helped me get over the hills, literally. I often rode a bike to school and this has some very motivational music that kept me moving. I was so excited to see that Amazon had it on CD. I look forward to purchasing it on the CD. The album is great if you like melodic rock that has an edge to it. I thoroughly enjoy it. I purchased it because of the artwork and was very pleased that the music surpassed the art. I hope you can learn to enjoy this music just for the sake of the music."
