"Steve Lacy is the foremost soprano saxophonist since Sidney Bechet, and an important modernist as well, following the unique path of reconciling jazz and the European Art song. This is just a great blowing session which displays his immense skills, the logic of his style, and the pithy, tight construction of his tunes that derives from the lessons he learned from Monk. Solid, exciting music. One note on the personnel, though, it's Oliver Johnson on drums, not John Betsch."
