"Music this good is hard to find. Steve Conn has a beautiful voice, writes great songs with intelligent lyrics that actually say something, and is a stellar musician. Note to the corporate music world: give this kind of music some airplay, and adults will actually start listening to the radio again and buying CDs."

"The fact that Steve Conn does not have a major label contract is proof of the unfairness of the music business. This is songwriting the caliber of which is rare and refreshing and rings with the sound of truth; truth from the heart, soul and experience. And all this with the underbelly of a New Orleans beat and a southern soul that is just out of reach , but still sounds familiar. Steve Conn displays a depth of emotion and experience seldom heard in music nowadays.
Songwiriters like Jackson Browne and Joni Mitchell come to mind: people who know you because they have spent the time knowing themselves and can tap that commonality that unites us all, and gives us the ability to experience the shared moments in life that are common to all of us. That is true art. And that is Steve Conn's music. Melodic, moody, up, down, reflective, funny and more. In hearing this cd, you sense that there has not been a major developement in this mans life where he wasn't aware, concious and maybe even taking notes. And what a story teller too. The haunting "Rigolette" reminds me a little of "Ode to Billy Joe", only spookier. Or, in the tale of dognapping, "Ive Got Your Dog" , he sings this line " Your new boyfriend thinks I'm crazy, just because I've done some time, well you tell him as long as I take my medicine I feel fine." And in "Beutiful", there is longing that can bring a tear to your eye. Buy this cd. Nurture a great songwriter. Send a message: we want music that speaks to us, that has something to offer, that is for adults."
