CD Reviews

The absolute pinnacle of Stereolab
08/23/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the best 12" I own, and is as significant in my collection as any of the groop's LPs. The title track is a poppy gem, "Pinball" is a Franco-pop masterpiece, "Soop Groove #1" is the coolest song ever (a vague adjective, I know, but the most appropriate) and this brassy version of "You Used to Call me Sadness" absolutely blows away the Aluminum Tunes track of the same name."
Another post-Moog masterpiece to add to your collection!

"A four song EP of shimmering brilliance but really, you should buy it alone for one song: "Soop Groove #1" is James Brown mixing it up with Phillip Glass. How many times are you going to hear THAT in a review? It's a 13-minute dance/funk groove that will make your teeth spin. There is no meaning to life."
POP PERFECTION! THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER!

""Fluorescences" and "Pinball" are "the 2 greatest songs ever recorded" unfortunately nobody seems to have ever heard them (even lab fans), I can't say enough except they also make great albums, but buy this EP first you won't regret."
