This cycle takes its lead from the work and life of Leonardo da Vinci. The 15 movements span his art, designs, philosophical ideas, life and inventions.
There is an excellent introduction on YouTube by the composer.
MusicWeb international's reviewer described this work as "amazingly inventive", and commented that "the harmonic colourings and drive of these works call to mind someone like Prokofiev, and do not suffer by comparison: the Studies of Invention deserve a wide audience."
The performance is highly virtuosic and colourful. Though not yet widely known Giovanni Santini is surely a name to watch for the future!
