Dense, bizarre music from a damned underrated band

"When I first got this record as a 10" on vinyl, I had no clue what speed to play it on. 45rpm sounded too fast, 33rpm sounded too slow...as it turned out, 33rpm was the way to go. They're slow, but not overtly heavy (like Boner labelmates, the Melvins). They're psychedelic, most notably with the guitar sound similar to Paul Leary of Butthole Surfers, but that doesn't pigeonhole them either. The vocals are there (along with weird effects like the screaming at the end of Ray) but kind of buried in the background. This is the kind of disc you listen to over and over again, while you're reading or at a party, it doesn't matter, it's definately a disc to 'absorb' but it will be well worth the effort. I highly recommend this to everyone who wants to hear something different then yet another verse chorus verse pop song. The best part is, of course, that underneath all this weirdness, there's a definite foundation of ROCK; this IS a punk rock band, make no mistake. But it ain't yer dad's punk!"
