CD Reviews
Rockers Rollin:What a Perfect Title!!

"If anybody would've said that after 1968's "Pictures of Matchstick Men" by Status Quo would be the first of 56 chart hits by this UK typical late 60's psychedelic rock band, they would've probably taken you for an MRI-but now 34 years later,125 MILLION records sold,33 albums, and a record TWENTY straight years with a Top 40 hit, here it is-the definitive Status Quo box set covering 1972-2000.There are 69 tracks in this 4 CD set, including 20 hit singles,15 unreleased tracks, and 9 other rarities. Also a fabulous biography and discography are included in full color. Some great live previously unreleased tracks of "Don't Waste My Time","Roll Over Lay Down","Hold You Back",and "Proud Mary" are great examples of the 3 Quo drummers of the past-John Coughlin on the first two,Pete Kircher on the third, and Jeff Rich on Mary. The original "Ol Rag Blues" with Alan Lancaster doing the lead vocals is terrific,as is the extended version of "Burning Bridges".Listen to "The Power of Rock" and there you have Quo at their finest-12 bar...boogie with tremendous rhythm and sing-along potential. This is a MUST for committed or even casual Quo fans..you get everything here except Matchstick Men because that was not on Vertigo Records and all these tracks celebrate Quo's 28 years with Vertigo. The discography and photos alone are worth the price."

Great Status Quo Box

"ROCKERS ROLLIN': QUO IN TIME is a great boxed set by Status Quo, featuring numerous rarities, including many live cuts and unreleased songs. That fact makes it an ideal choice to supplement the band's 70s reissues in your collection, not replace them. Nevertheless, the fact that bandleaders Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt believe that the young Australian tourist jailed in Indonesia since 2005 for drug smuggling was unjustly convicted makes ROCKERS ROLLIN' and the 70s reissues essential purchases for both your ears AND your conscience."
